Falling in Love at First Sight
First sight word that is! This activity lets our little learners build and FALL in love with mastering their important high frequency words. Committing those sight words, heart words, or other “non-decodable” words to memory are crucial for students while reading, and it also can really help with fluency, prosody and overall comprehension.
With this activity, students will LOVE practicing spelling, reading, and mastering all kinds of important words with these apples and trees. Kids will grab a tree, read the word, and get to constructing their color coded apples to correctly spell the word. This activity includes FRY’s First 100 Words AND a bonus editable version for you to add your own words!
Squirrely Whirly Good Fun
Make the perfect fall sensory bin with this easy to differentiate feed the squirrel activity. Students will get practice with fine motor skills while practicing matching upper and lowercase letters. Easily differentiate for letter sounds, blends, or whatever your students need! Add a paint dabber for some added fun and watch the kids frenzy for this fall activity.
Construct your squirrels by reusing a few tissue boxes so the planet can thank you with this fun activity and throw in some collected acorns. Add some tweezers for fine motor skills and let them gather nuts to feed their squirrel! Check out this fun resource in action below!!
Apple of My Eye
Learning about beginning letter sounds is such an important literacy skill for students. They will LOVE sorting apples on letter trees! This is a super simple, low prep activity that will have you and your students living apple-y ever after because beginning sounds will be a breeze! Print and go with your sorting mats, take a little time cutting out your apples and have your students sort away! Don’t forget to apple-laud your little learners after mastering this skill!!
Don’t Leaf These Digraphs Hanging!
Got kiddos working on digraphs? They’ll have a blast sorting the beginning and ending digraph on these autumn trees! Leaves are sure to fall from these trees and your kiddos can help them hang just a little while longer! Simply print your mats, cut out your leaves, and let your students get to work. These can be easily differentiated and it’s perfect for small groups, partners, or as a center activity. It’s fall and fun!
