Have you tried daily slides in your classroom yet? If you haven’t, I’m here to tell you all the reasons why you are going to start using them TOMORROW and NEVER look back. They are a game changer for classroom management, your daily routine, and class flow. So if you’re ready to learn all about the magic of daily classroom slides, let’s dive in!
Routine and Predictability
How would you like to never hear the words- “What are we doing?” again? That is probably one of the biggest wins from using daily slides. No matter when students walk in, these slides let them know EXACTLY what is going on and what they need. No more repeating yourself or setting timers because you everything is already typed up and done for you! From the moment students walk into the room from the moment they leave, they know exactly what to expect for each part of their day.
The morning routine set is one of our most favorite and predictable for students. They can see exactly what they need to do from the moment they walk in the door. As soon as the morning bell rings, you set the timer and the countdown is on for them. They can see what they need to complete and how much time is left to do so. It’s great because it starts the day off right and you can greet each student at the door with a smile while the rest of the class is completing their morning routine. It’s a win win!
Weekly Lesson Planning
If you’re like me, you spend the week before planning for the following week. Daily slides are a quick addition that can be added to your weekly plan routine and soon you will have each lesson, activity, or project ready, pulled up, and done. While it takes a little time to build your slides to your specific schedule, the weekly fixes take little to no time at all.
Let’s look at it in action. For example, you’re planning connection circle topics for the week and you’re working on updating your slides. All you have to do is simply change each question for Monday-Friday because your slides are already setup with behavior expectations, reminders for what things should look and sound like during this time, and prompts. It’s just a matter of changing the question. It takes no time at all and it feels so amazing each day when you walk in and all you have to do is turn on your smart board to project your slides! The best part is once you’ve done it for a year, you can reuse it indefinitely with only minor tweaks made. It’s planning and organizational GOLD!

These slides are amazing for creating a flow and predictability for your students. Timers and pulled up videos means no more searching, scrambling, and dealing with unexpected behaviors. One of our favorite parts of our daily slides routine is the expected brain breaks built into our day. Since it’s so routine, students know exactly when to they’ll get some time to get their wiggles out after working quietly. We even have built movement breaks vs mindfulness breaks that support a needed break up of our literacy time. You can see how that works HERE!

Access for All Learners
Daily slides allow for more visuals so that all students can access things they need. Let’s say you teach primary grades where students are still learning to read. No problem. Daily slides allow you to add many more visuals to support their needs. From pictures of them for center rotations or pictures of things they need to complete, slides really help support students with all different needs. Easily add pieces like: materials needed, must do/may do options, learning objectives, site logins, and more!
Behavior Management Tools
One of my teacher favorite features of these daily slides, are the built in management visuals. They provide a simple reminder of expected behaviors to students. You can set different voice levels for different activities, tell students when they can and cannot visit the restroom or get water, as well as what it looks and sounds like for each part of their day. It’s a great way to begin laying the foundation at the beginning of the year for students, as well as providing continued reminders throughout the year when students may need them.
Daily Slides Bonus
There are so many bonuses you’ll reap from using daily slides. One is being able to set substitute teachers up for a day of success. I have heard from SO many guest teachers who are so grateful for daily slides. Not only do they have plans to follow, but their entire day is mapped out for them and easy to see. They can look ahead and know what to expect in their day and they won’t have to scramble or try to figure out new technology because everything will be pulled up for them. They will absolutely THANK YOU. So will your students because their day will still be predictable, helping them remain on a normal schedule as much as possible.
Say goodbye to stressing over missing school because of an emergency. Since slides can be completed and shared through any device via Google, you can easily edit and make adjustments to change your slides even if you can’t physically be in the building. Talk about a life saver!!
