Setting Up This Fun March Madness Classroom Activity
Setting up Trashketball couldn’t be easier. All you need is a simple small trash can! For younger learners or those who might need extra help, you can use a bigger trash can to make the hoop easier to aim for. Want to make it even more exciting? Get creative by turning your whiteboard or the back of a door into a “real” basketball hoop by attaching one or more around the classroom! I’ve even used Easter baskets set up for groups and they love it either way! You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you want, and it’s guaranteed to bring a new level of fun to your classroom.
How to Play
Playing Trashketball is simple! You can use it for reviewing beginning blends, math facts, vocabulary, and more. For each correct answer, students take a shot at the trash can. You can play with the entire class or break them into smaller groups or pairs for a more competitive edge. Additionally, it’s easy to adjust the level of difficulty for groups, making this a versatile and inclusive activity for everyone in your class. Students LOVE playing and never want to stop!
