Have you ever wanted a simple solution to organizing ALL your teacher things? If you’re ready to get organized QUICK and ditch your teacher desk in the process, this easy step-by-step guide is for you! You’ll create the easiest DIY teacher toolbox that you’ll fall in love with!

Let’s start with the truth, have you ever wanted to make your own teacher toolbox but thought, “That’s too much work.” or “I don’t have time to do that.” Let me be the first to say that not only is this process super easy, but it takes no time at all to set up. The best part though, once you have your toolbox setup, you’ll never search or scramble again for ALL those things we need as teachers. You know what I’m talking about! “Where are my staples?” or “I lost my tape again!”
So if you’re ready, let’s get started on one of my absolute favorite classroom organization tools!
Step 1: Choose Your Teacher Toolbox
The most important step of this process is choosing the right toolbox for you. There are a variety of different sizes depending on what you plan to store. Below are two of the most popular go-tos for teachers. For this tutorial, we will use the small option. However, the bigger option works just as well!
Step 2: Customize It
The next part is super fun! You get to customize your teacher toolbox to fit you and your classroom needs. Keep your toolbox the same, add stickers, or even spray paint it! I spray-painted mine teal to match my classroom theme. If you wish to spray paint it, simply take the drawers out, grab your paint of choice, lay on some cardboard, and go for it. It did take a few coats to finish but it’s stayed beautiful now for almost 5 years!
Step 3: Add Your Teacher Toolbox Labels
Now it’s time to get those labels up. I biggest recommendation for this step is to use double sided tape! It is the easiest thing I’ve found to attach your labels to each of the drawers. Use THESE labels to get ALL your teacher supplies organized. With over 44 different labels and editable templates, you’ll have everything you need to clear out that junk drawer and get organized for good!

Step 4: Organize Your Teacher Toolbox
And our final step in this process is the best step: getting organized! Here’s where you can de-clutter, organize, and ditch that teacher desk for good. Finally get rid of “that drawer” we all have. You know the one—so jam-packed it barely budges, and when it finally does, everything’s buried in chaos…. (no I didn’t just call myself out, I called us all out!) For this part of the process, it’s important to organize only the things you need and get rid of the rest. The point is to downsize and simplify. What is essential? If you think of this teacher toolbox as your teacher desk, what do you truly need to be successful on a daily basis? If you don’t need it, ditch it!
By going through this process, you’ll be so much happier everyday when you can find what you need in a second and you’ve freed yourself from all the extra things you don’t need!
